Most of our blog posts seek to share general information of broad interest to our readers. From time to time, however, we write posts seeking information on a specific person, company or possible fraud. This is one such post.
We are currently investigating Ellwood Jones, a stockbroker previously employed by NFP Advisor Services in Folsom, California. According to records obtained from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), Jones left NFP in March of 2011.
We are investigating claims that Ellwood Jones and NFP sold risky Guaranteed Investment Contracts (also known as GICs) and investments with PIWM, short for Private International Wealth Management. PIWM is in turn connected with Tracy Sunderlage, Nikolai (Nicholas) Battoo and BC Capital Group. Most of these entities are under investigation, prosecution or liquidation by various government agencies.
If you have information about Ellwood Jones and investments he sold through NFP Advisor Services, please contact us. We are interested in determining if any federal, state or industry laws were violated in the marketing of these investments.
The law firm of Mahany & Ertl specializes in fraud cases against financial professionals including stockbrokers, investment advisers, brokerage firms, financial planners and the like. These folks are regulated and required to perform due diligence on the recommendations they make to customers. Brokerage firms are also required to properly supervise their employees and insure they are making suitable recommendations to clients.
If you have lost money in a guaranteed investment contract, Ponzi scheme or to any investment associated with Battoo / Sunderlage / BC Capital or PIWM, you may have a claim against the person selling you the investment. Although US and foreign enforcement proceedings are underway, there is no guarantee that you will recover any money. In our experience, there rarely is enough money to pay anything close to the actual losses suffered by customers. After the receivers and liquidators receive their fees, there is often little money left for investors.
The earlier you bring a claim, the better the chances for recovery.
