Ambassadors for Justice Scholarship Award
Rules and Regulations
MahanyLaw (“Sponsor”) conducts an annual scholarship award competition (“Contest”) for individuals accepted to enter a learning program (“Applicants”) in the fall of the application year. Applicants must state in the entry email that they have read and agree to the following Rules and Regulations to be eligible to compete. By entering, Applicants agree to and are bound by the Rules and Regulations defined herein.
Eligibility
Applicants of all ages who plan toenter a learning program (middle school, high school, university, college, vocational institution) in the fall of the application year are eligible to enter the Contest. The Sponsor reserves the right to validate Applicant’s acceptance into a program of learning. Sponsor employees and direct family members are not eligible for entry.
Entry Requirements
The Contest opens to applicants on January 31, 2016. All required application materials must be received by 11:59 p.m. EST on December 15, 2016. Applicants must upload a 1-3 minute video to YouTube addressing one of three topics: (1) What factors do you feel contribute to the underreporting of fraudulent behavior in the workplace? (2) If you knew that reporting workplace fraud would result in undesirable consequences like revenge or loss of employment, would you still become a whistleblower and report the fraud? (3) Interpret Dr. John Raymond Baker’s statement: “To see a wrong and not expose it, is to become a silent partner to its continuance.” Video submissions must be titled “Ambassadors for Justice Scholarship Award” and must include the following statement in the description: “My entry for the 2016 MahanyLaw Ambassadors for Justice Scholarship Award, www.mahanylaw.com.”
Applicants are required to share video submissions on social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc.) using the tags: #scholarshipjustice and @mahanylaw. An email containing the following information must be sent to with the subject line, Ambassadors for Justice Scholarship Award: name, address, email, phone, YouTube URL (video link), school you plan to attend, field of study. Entry email must include the statement: “I have read and agree to the Rules and Regulations.” Individuals under the age of 18 must provide a parent or guardian’s written permission to be eligible for entry.
Applications that do not include all required entry materials and adhere to the foregoing and following Rules and Regulations are not eligible for entry.
Video Requirements
Applicants under the age of 18 must obtain a parent’s or guardian’s permission prior to uploading a video to YouTube and submitting an entry. All video entries must be available for viewing on YouTube using the “Public” privacy setting. Entry materials must be in English, must be an original creation of the Applicant, must not be published elsewhere in any format, and must not violate copyright laws. Applicants are solely responsible for the creating a work that is not in violation of government communication regulations. Entries that are not in compliance with these Rules and Regulations and the YouTube Terms of Use, or that otherwise exhibit content the Sponsor deems inappropriate, will be considered void and not be eligible for entry.
Parental Permission
Applicants under the age of 18 must provide a parent or guardian’s written permission to be eligible for entry. With statement of permission, the respective parent or guardian agrees to be bound by these Rules and Regulations.
Selection Process
Video submissions will be evaluated and the scholarship recipient selected based solely on the objective and unbiased discretion of the MahanyLaw Scholarship Committee. Determination of the scholarship recipient and all Contest-related rulings are final. Video entries will be evaluated and scholarship recipient selected based on the following criteria: Applicant’s ability to address 1 of 3 required topics, strength of message, originality and creativity. The Sponsor does not accept responsibility for late, lost or misdirected application materials, submission or transmission failures, or other issues resulting in ineligibility.
Scholarship Award
The recipient of the scholarship award will be contacted by phone or email within the first week of January, 2017. A single winner will be awarded a check for $1,000 to be used on educational expenses (books, supplies, tuition, etc.) accompanied by an award certificate. By accepting the scholarship award money, the recipient agrees that the Sponsor holds no liability for injury, damages or loss that results from Contest entry, participation, prize acceptance or use. Scholarship recipients are fully responsible for taxes on prize money.
Liability Limitations
Prize recipient assumes all responsibility for any and all injuries or damage claimed to be caused by involvement in the Contest or use of award. The Sponsor and its affiliates, directors, officers, employees and agents accept no responsibility and are not liable for any claim arising from association with the Contest or delivery of the award. By entering the Contest, the Applicant agrees to release the Sponsor from any and all damages, claims and/or liabilities relating to or arising from the Applicant’s Contest involvement.
Use Rights
Upon entry submission, Applicants grant the Sponsor permission to use application materials at their discretion and the permission to reproduce, utilize and distribute the content. Upon entry submission, Applicants consent to irrevocably transfer any and all interest, title, copyrights and rights in the entry to the Sponsor. Upon receipt of the scholarship award, the winner grants the Sponsor consent to use winner’s name likeness and entry materials for advertising and public relations purposes without additional recompense, unless prohibited by law.
