Readers of this blog know that I have railed against Roni Deutch and many of the other tax resolution frauds. Most of the companies that hype their ability to resolve tax debts for pennies on the dollar are frauds. JK Harris, Tax Masters and others have all been sanctioned by one or more state agencies for taking peoples hard earned money but doing little in return. Unfortunately it took years before someone finally shut down Roni.
Now that she has been finally shut down, the State Bar of California moves in. Even though Roni surrendered her law license last month, California has now brought a disciplinary complaint against her for false advertising, violating court orders and failing to competently perform legal services. The IRS jumped in the fray too and slapped Roni with tax liens – apparently she hasn’t exactly been up to speed on her own taxes.
While I applaud these efforts, most are too late for the thousands of people who claim to have been victimized. Our phones have been ringing with people who have paid thousands to Deutch and received little in return. When I say little in return, most tell me that when they asked for a refund they received nothing in return.
While there is little we can do to get back money for these people, we can help with IRS payment plans and offers in compromise. We do not promise to make your tax debts go away for $20 or “pennies on the dollar” but we can give you honest advice and let you know how much the IRS is likely to accept and can help you get significant abatements of tax and penalties in appropriate cases. We can also relieve the stress of bank levies, foreclosures and wage garnishments.
