There are many competent lawyers in this world. According to the American Bar Association, there are about 1.2 million lawyers within the United States. Assuming most are competent, probably 10% of the total figure can be considered to have very good or great technical skills. What then separates the best from the rest?
If you look at law firm websites and marketing brochures, most tell you how great their lawyers are. One wouldn’t expect anything less. We all know that not everyone can be the best. I like to think that the top 1% are those that can not only solve their client’s problems both also restore some sanity and well-being to an otherwise crazy world.
Earlier this year I went scuba diving for the first time. We were vacationing in Maui and I decided to cross off another item from my bucket list. There were small craft advisories the day of our open water dive and that made me more than a little nervous as we headed out to sea. (The first day of pool dives was not very exhilarating!) While the surface was extremely rough, once down a few feet underwater I realized how still and quiet the world became.
Litigation and the legal arena in general are much like the surface of an angry sea. Even if you are not frightened, the rough waters and uncertainty still produces anxiety in most. Having a good lawyer is like having a good boat; you know you are safe. But having a great lawyer is like having the ability to dive into the calm waters below.
We believe our lawyers do more than just address the symptoms of the problem. We take the time to understand the problem and offer permanent solutions so that our clients can turn their attention to other concerns.
This isn’t one of our traditional blog posts. And we certainly are not a traditional law firm. While the “BigLaw” model of high hourly fees, bloated associate pools and crystal palaces slowly crumbles, a new and better model is emerging. Boutique firms that seek the brightest legal minds, that understand alternative fees and work to solve problems, not simply “run the meter.”
Our firm began with a simple concept. To be the best fraud recovery and whistleblower firm. Period. We aren’t all things to all clients and don’t want to go down that road. If you are looking for world class service and outside the box problem solving, give us a try. You won’t be disappointed.
