In recent months, Jim Hodge, the owner, CEO and chief wizard in charge of all companies Allied, has announced he wants to “restore his reputation” and that he would love to chat with the media, but was “traveling”. It is unclear where he is traveling to, but he is on the run and does not seem interested in talking to anyone about anything concerning Allied. In fact, even he seems to recognize the harmful radioactivity emanating from his own company. He has now fired himself as the CEO of Allied.
The events leading up to the termination or resignation again remind us of the Wizard of Oz as his fraud is revealed by the tenacious Toto, Dorothy’s terrier. When the curtain is pulled back revealing the “man behind the curtain”, he pulls the curtain closed and commands, “pay no attention to the man behind the curtain”, but Toto persists and reveals the fraud once again. Mr. Hodge has now been seen by all for what he is by virtue of the determined efforts of many to pull back the curtain. By firing himself, he asks us to pay no attention to the apparent fraud behind the curtain.
Mr. Hodge now is avoiding giving his deposition in any of his remaining lawsuits against those he still seeks to crush, paying his minions (his lawyers) to feed his addiction to litigation. By firing himself, he claims that no one on the other side of his cases can ask him any questions because he is no longer employed by Allied. He is not seeking to explain how and why he constructed the Land of Oz called Allied, but he is now seeking to never have to explain anything to anyone and is willing to fire himself to make sure he does not have to answer questions. Someday soon perhaps his travels will take him on a fateful balloon ride to a special place.
